| "No one has ever bothered to do such a complete exam!" That's what most people say during their first visit at our office. A comprehensive exam is made up of many components. Here is what you can expect:
First, we will get to know you as a person. We want to hear your story. What do you want us to accomplish together? We will discuss your medical and dental history. We will need to know about any allergies you have and what medications you are taking, so please be sure to bring this information with you.
Then we will gather a lot of information about your dental health using visual inspection and x-rays. We use three different types of x-rays. Each type provides information that the others cannot. The combination of the three provides a good picture of the condition of your bones, joints, sinuses, and teeth.
The visual examination includes a head and neck exam, a TMJ evaluation, a periodontal screening including an oral cancer screen, and an examination of each and every tooth.
After all this information is collected and Dr. Lunson knows what your current condition is, she will be able to assess your individual needs, and together you and she can decide the best course of action for your dental health. You will feel, as others do, that this is the best first visit you have ever had at the dentist.
