Are you or is someone you love losing sleep because of snoring? Sometimes snoring is just an obnoxious noise, but sometimes it is a symptom of a serious medical disorder known as "sleep apnea".

Sleep apnea is a condition in which the sufferer stops breathing for a period of time over and over during the night. This stopping of breathing causes the person to be roused from sleep, even if he or she does not fully wake up. The end result is a lack or rest during the night and sleepiness during the day.

Additionally, sleep apnea can lead to or worsen cardiovascular conditions, bringing about high blood pressure, heart attack, and/or stroke.

The good news is that both snoring and sleep apnea can be treated, yielding a higher quality of life for all concerned. Treatment requires a team approach including physicians, a sleep clinic, and your dentist. Dr. Lunson is experienced in oral appliance therapy for the treatment of both simple snoring and sleep apnea.
