What is a dental implant?
Replace Missing Teeth
Many people get confused about what exactly is a dental implant. The dental implant itself is a replacement for the root of a tooth. It is often made of pure titanium or titanium alloy, although new research is showing promise for zirconium (white colored) dental implants.
The dental implant is placed into the bone in the jaw. After the bone has healed around the implant a crown, bridge, or denture can be attached to the dental implant, replacing the missing tooth (teeth).
