Your First Dental Visit: Choose Your Path at Humble Dentistry
We are always excited to welcome new patients to Humble Dentistry! Led by Dr. Robert Appel, our privately-owned practice is dedicated to providing high-quality, patient-centered dental care to our neighbors in Humble, Texas, and across the Lake Houston area, including Atascocita, Kingwood, Porter, and beyond.
To ensure you receive the personalized attention you deserve from the very beginning, we offer three distinct types of new patient visits tailored to your current oral health needs and long-term smile goals.
1. The Healthy New Patient Visit
Best for Comprehensive Preventive Dental Care
This visit is ideal if you want to stay proactive, prevent future issues, and maintain your oral health with a thorough, top-to-bottom dental evaluation.
This path is designed for patients who:
- Have no active history of periodontal (gum) disease
- Regularly see a dentist for routine preventive care
- Have received a professional dental cleaning within the past 12 months
- Are not currently experiencing dental pain, toothaches, or specific dental emergencies
What to Expect During Your Appointment
We take the time to truly understand your health history, dental background, and personal smile goals. Dr. Appel will perform a comprehensive evaluation of your teeth, bite, gums, jaw joints, muscles, and airway using advanced digital photography and imaging. If your gums are healthy, we will typically complete your routine professional teeth cleaning (prophylaxis) during this same visit.
At the end of your appointment, we’ll review your digital images together and outline a plan for long-term oral health. If we discover more complex concerns that require advanced planning, Dr. Appel may recommend a separate consultation visit so we can thoroughly review your options.
Estimated Appointment Time: Approximately 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours
2. Comprehensive Evaluation and Personalized Treatment Planning
Best for Advanced Dental Goals or Complex Concerns
This dental visit is specifically designed for patients who have multiple areas of concern or are looking to explore transformational, specialized dental treatments in the Humble, TX area.
This path is designed for patients who:
- Have specific concerns, cosmetic goals, or multiple teeth they would like evaluated
- Are interested in advanced dental care such as treatment for gum disease, dental implants, cosmetic makeovers, porcelain veneers, clear aligners (Invisalign), or airway-focused dental care
What to Expect During Your Appointment
We will complete a detailed, state-of-the-art diagnostic evaluation similar to our preventive visit—including digital X-rays, 3D imaging (if needed), and a comprehensive oral exam.
Please note: A professional routine teeth cleaning is not included during this initial appointment. Our primary focus is gathering precise clinical data to engineer a highly personalized treatment plan tailored to your health and cosmetic goals. If additional planning is required, we will invite you back for a dedicated consultation. You are always welcome to bring a spouse, partner, or family member to this follow-up visit for support.
Estimated Appointment Time: Approximately 75 to 90 minutes
3. Limited Evaluation or Emergency Dental Visit
Best for Targeted or Urgent Concerns
If you are experiencing sudden dental pain, a broken tooth, or swelling, this urgent care visit focuses strictly on providing fast relief and clear answers. We reserve time daily in Dr. Appel's schedule for emergency dental care in Humble, TX.
This path is designed for patients who:
- Are experiencing a localized dental emergency (e.g., an aching tooth, chipped or broken tooth, bleeding gums, or swelling).
- Need to see a local dentist promptly for a specific, single area of concern.
What to Expect During Your Appointment
During this targeted visit, we isolate the specific problem area using focused digital imaging and photos to quickly diagnose the issue. Our immediate priority is to alleviate your discomfort, explain what is happening, and provide clear next steps. Depending on your needs and the complexity of the treatment, we are often able to begin addressing or resolving the problem on the same day.
If you require ongoing care beyond this immediate concern, we will guide you through the next steps to transition into comprehensive care once your emergency is resolved.
Estimated Appointment Time: Approximately 30 to 40 minutes
