Comprehensive dentistry is an approach to oral health that focuses on addressing your overall dental needs instead of treating a single tooth problem. The purpose is to develop a personalized plan that considers your unique dental history, current dental health status, and long-term dental goals. The plan may include preventive care, restorative procedures, orthodontic treatment, oral surgery, and or cosmetic procedures to improve health, function, and appearance.
This patient came to us because she was tired of seeing a different doctor every time she went to her previous dental office and wanted a long-term plan to improve her overall dental health. We worked with her to develop a customized plan to address her goals including:
- Preventive maintenance to improve gum health
- Direct composite (tooth colored) fillings for areas of moderate decay
- A single tooth crown to repair advanced decay
- Tooth whitening to improve color
- Clear Correct Aligners to improve tooth alignment and close spaces
- A single tooth dental implant to replace the missing a missing molar
We were able to complete all treatment in phases over two years to fit within her budget, while still meeting her overall goals. Today she is able to chew without pain and smiles without being self-conscious of her missing teeth and spaces.
Fantastic experience! Always up to the minute on new dental practices and technology. I was dreading the tooth extraction and dental implant. It wasn’t much worse than a teeth cleaning, in other word the apprehension was all for naught. And he can do procedures I previously had been referred out for. That’s a big plus in my book. I highly recommend Dr. Appel to anyone needing dental care.
