Our patient is planning his wedding later in the year and wanted to make his smile picture perfect. We discussed his smile goals and formulated a three-step plan:
- Aligners to improve tooth position in coordination with our orthodontic partner
- Bleaching to improve the overall tooth color
- Direct composite veneers to repair the worn edges and improve the shape of his teeth
His orthodontic treatment took about 12 months in coordination with the orthodontist using Invisalign. During the orthodontic treatment he periodically used Opalescence gel within the aligner trays to improve his tooth color. We offered in-office tooth whitening as an alternative for a more dramatic color improvement, however he was happy with a more natural appearance.
At the end of his Invisalign treatment we scanned his tooth position with our 3Shape Trios 3 intra-oral scanner and then designed a mockup of his new tooth shapes. We 3D printed the mockup on our SprintRay 3D Printer and used a template to transfer the design to his teeth.
Using the template, we layered different shades of Tokuyama Estelite Omega direct composite resin to customize veneers on his front six teeth. Estelite Omega is a premium tooth colored filling material that is highly polishable and comes in a variety of colors and tints to simulate natural teeth. Final photos were taken four weeks after the completion of his treatment. He is now wedding ready!

Fantastic experience! Always up to the minute on new dental practices and technology. I was dreading the tooth extraction and dental implant. It wasn’t much worse than a teeth cleaning, in other word the apprehension was all for naught. And he can do procedures I previously had been referred out for. That’s a big plus in my book.
