A Patient-Centered Approach to Oral Health in the Lake Houston Area

General dentistry is designed to help patients maintain excellent oral health, prevent future complications, and flash a smile they feel proud of.

Our general dentistry services include:

  • Tooth-Colored Fillings
  • Root Canal Therapy
  • Inlays and Onlays
  • Periodontal Treatment
  • Tooth Replacement
  • Restorative Dentistry
  • Emergency Dentistry

Fillings and root canals restore a tooth to oral health if there is a cavity or infection. Inlays and onlays in Humble, TX, are used to close fillings or fractures/chips when a filling is insufficient, but a crown may be excessive. Our inlays and onlays are tooth-colored and fit within and over tooth cusps, respectively.

General Dentistry: The Foundation for Lifelong Oral Health

General dentistry offers essential preventive and corrective care to maintain a radiant smile and a strong, healthy bite for years to come.

Proactive Prevention

Routine checkups and cleanings help detect issues early, reducing the need for invasive or costly treatments.

Complete Cleaning

Professional teeth cleanings eliminate plaque and tartar-causing bacteria, lowering the risk of cavities and gum disease.

Personalized Care

Tailored dental care plans address individual concerns, ensuring long-term oral health and systemic well-being.

Beverly C.

Fantastic experience! Always up to the minute on new dental practices and technology. I was dreading the tooth extraction and dental implant. It wasn’t much worse than a teeth cleaning, in other word the apprehension was all for naught. And he can do procedures I previously had been referred out for. That’s a big plus in my book. I highly recommend Dr. Appel to anyone needing dental care.

Advanced Restorative Dentistry: Same-Day Solutions

We're pleased to offer same-day dental crowns in Humble, TX. This means no waiting weeks for a dental crown or relying on a temporary restoration.

Dental bonding is a fast option for chips, cracks, and general imperfections, and we can often complete it during a single office visit.

The team at Humble Dentistry works to streamline your care whenever possible.

Comprehensive Oral Health Evaluation

There are several ways for patients to join our practice, but we believe it's important that each patient has a thorough and comprehensive evaluation focusing on four areas:

1. Appearance of the teeth
2. Dental bite, including the muscles and joints
3. Condition of the teeth
4. Condition of the gums and bones that support the teeth

We then work with patients to develop a long-term plan to maintain and improve their oral health.

Preventive Dentistry for a Lifetime of Health

By prioritizing preventive dentistry, you can enjoy a healthy smile for a lifetime. Regular checkups and dental cleanings allow Dr. Appel to identify and treat oral conditions before they progress into serious problems.

We offer the following preventive services in our Humble, TX dental office:

  • Professional teeth cleanings
  • Fluoride treatments
  • Nightguards
  • Mouthguards
  • Dental sealants
  • Diagnostic x-rays
  • Oral cancer screenings

At Humble Dentistry, we use digital dental x-rays that deliver low radiation and produce instant, high-resolution images for Dr. Appel to review.

Frequently Asked Questions

Our Recommendation

We recommend that everyone brush their teeth for at least 2 minutes twice per day. Some patients may benefit from more frequent brushing especially if they currently have braces.

Change Your Toothbrush Every 3 Months

Contrary to popular belief, you should not wait until your next 6 month dental checkup to change your toothbrush.

We recommend changing your toothbrush every 3 months or when you notice the bristles fraying. Many toothbrush manufacturers design the bristles to change color when it is time for a new brush or electric brush head. You may notice the blue or green color start to change to white on the tips of many Oral-B brushes.

arms hold a clock in the air | dentist humble txTreatment times vary depending on the procedure you are having. Of course, not every aspect of treatment is predictable, but we will give you an estimate of what you can expect when we diagnose your condition and arrange your appointment.

In general, one can expect the following times:

Give Us A Call

We request that you update any insurance changes, medical history, or medications when you arrive in our office. This will allow us to provide you with the best care possible and to ensure your safety while we treat you.

You are also welcome to arrange a consultation with Dr. Appel to discuss your goals for your smile. We can make this a separate appointment, or you can discuss it at your next exam. Our team is always available to discuss treatment or answer questions so that you feel more confident in your care.

We strive to remain on time so that you can fit dentistry into your schedule without any complications.

Give us a call if you have a question about your treatment times or what to expect with your procedure.

Protect Your Teeth

Sealants are a thin protective layer for the grooves in the chewing surface of teeth. They act like a hard hat and protect the grooves from food, acid, and harmful bacteria that may lead to cavities. The can work well for both children and adults on permanent teeth that do not already have fillings, crowns, or cavities.

a man stands with his arms folded, looking up and to the side | general dentist Humble TXDr. Appel and our entire dental team believe that helping patients enjoy comfortable dental treatment is one of the most important parts of the care we provide.

Pain Free Dentistry

Even complex procedures such as extractions, root canals, and dental implant placement are more comfortable than ever thanks to the latest information regarding anesthetic techniques, improved medications, and information about how different people react when anesthetized. Every patient is different, and we will ensure you get the proper amount of anesthetic.

Special products like topical anesthetic and reversal medications like OraVerse make your experience more comfortable and convenient. Injections are easier than ever because we now have the capability to numb the area before the injection, so you can expect minimal discomfort.

Reversing the effects of anesthetic is an added convenience we offer. Every patient metabolizes anesthetic differently and staying completely numb for hours after your procedure can be annoying and inconvenient – especially if you are hungry! By reversing the effects of your anesthetic, you can feel like yourself again faster.
You are always in control of your own appointment here at Humble Dentistry. If you ever feel uncomfortable during a procedure, let us know and we will take action right away. We want you to relax and enjoy worry-free dentistry while you are with us.

Tooth Replacement and Restorations near Atascocita

Trauma, decay, disease, and tooth loss can impact your health and smile. The proper restorative treatment can protect or replace teeth to improve your oral health and appearance.

  • Tooth-colored fillings – Rather than using metal fillings, today’s fillings are made of natural-looking tooth-colored composites to complement your smile.
  • Crowns – Dental crowns cover teeth and add stability in the event of decay, fracture, or root canal therapy. They are both cosmetic and help prevent future oral health issues.
  • Bridges – Dental bridges replace missing teeth by attaching two crowns to healthy, adjacent teeth and an artificial tooth to fill the gap.
  • Bonding – Dr. Appel can use bonding to repair small chips and irregularities in tooth structure.
  • Implants Dental implants replace the entire tooth, including the root. Because dental implants integrate with bone, they are a stable and reliable long-term solution for missing teeth.
  • Dentures – Complete dentures remain a popular choice for patients missing all of their teeth. Both fit and appearance have improved dramatically in recent years.
  • Partials – When some natural teeth remain, they can serve as anchors for a partial denture. We offer several options, including acrylic and metal bases.
  • Implant-supported dentistry – Dental implants add stability to both dentures and bridges.
  • Veneers – Porcelain veneers add length and improve the appearance of worn, damaged, or deeply stained teeth.
  • Clear Aligner Therapy – Clear aligners in Humble discreetly straighten your teeth.
